I’m writing this post today out of frustration and I know there are many people that suffer from the same frustration. Every day I talk to a lot of people that are in a network marketing program and as soon as the conversation starts, they are trying to figure out a way to tell me about their business or the just spew it right on you in the first point on contact. Why does this frustrate me so much? Because I used to do the same thing. I was always taught that everyone was a prospect, who doesn’t want more money? or who doesn’t want to feel better or travel?
Well lots of people want to do those things, but they don’t want to hear about a company or opportunity until they know who you are and how you can help them get away from their pain or frustration. When all you do is talk about your product/opportunity, you are not really marketing, you are trying to sell people on what you are doing and everyone can smell it. People hate being sold to and even worse, people hate selling. How are you going to duplicate something that people hate doing.
If you truly want to become an internet marketer, you are still going to need to do some work. The big difference is people are contacting you to buy instead of you contacting them so you can try to sell something that they have not expressed any interest in. You do the work one time and it stays out there forever to direct them to buy from you. Internet marketing is more about researching where the money is and setting up shop right in front of the buyers. You can even do this at no cost, but you will need to become an expert at keyword research and search engine optimization. If you get good at it, you will benefit from free traffic and sales for life. The other option of pay per click advertising is also very effective. You will still need to learn how to do keyword research. The results will come faster but the down falls are that in order to stay at the top of the search engines, you will have to pay.
I recommend a combination of both when getting started. PPC advertising will provide leads now until you get ranking high in the organic search. Eventually, once you become better at the whole SEO process, you will be able to fund your PPC campaigns in the more competitive niches while ranking in them as well.
So where should you start? First of all you need to start by figuring out what to sell. If you are going to do network marketing, you will need to find a company. If you are going to concentrate on affiliate marketing, you are going to need to figure out what product you are going to sell. Whichever you pick will require you to do some extensive research as well.
Most importantly, find something that you can be passionate about. If you believe in what you are doing, people will sense that without you having to try to convince them to work with you. You will be more passionate about what you are doing and you will want to do it. Investigate the longevity or newness of the niche. You will want to be doing keyword research while figuring out your niche as well. How much competition do you have as well as a few different angles in marketing your niche.
The biggest mistakes that I see are made in social media, forums and public chats. If you are blatantly pitching to people online, it’s no different than going to shopping malls and passing out flyers or pitching people on why they need your product. If you are marketing effectively on the internet and doing it the right way, conversations of you pitching anything but yourself will be a thing of the past.
Make it a great day and have a Happy Easter,
Troy
