Social media is like a big party. People go there to meet other like minded people. Imagine going to a party and meeting someone and within the first 15 seconds they give you their website URL. That is what so many people do on the social networks. Many times they don’t even give you a chance.  In the first contact they make with you, they are spewing all over you.

” Hi my name is Troy. Great to meet you. Here’s my website”  What happens when someone reads that? DELETE!!! Nobody cares.

The social networks like Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are where the party is at. Go to the party and start meeting people. This is where you will create a conversation. Go back and forth, just like a regular party.Eventually there will come a time where the relationship goes to the next level. Let’s get a cup of coffee or lets go back to my place and continue this conversation. On the internet, you will need a place to take that person. The perfect place to take them is to your Blog. Your blog will give them more information about you and build that relationship further.

Now you are starting to bring traffic to your website. What are you going to do with your traffic? If you set your blog up correctly, people will read your blog on a regular basis.If they find enough value in the content that you add to your blog ,they will start to trust you. When that trust is earned, they will buy the products and services that you recommend  to them. If you happen to be an affiliate for that product or service, You get Paid.

So many people quit this business when they are on the 1 yard line. I had my days that I wanted to just give up, but I didn’t. Everyone has those days. I think it’s part of our right of passage. Talk to any person that has experience success in Network marketing. I highly doubt that any of them will tell you that it was easy to get there. It’s no different than any other business. It takes work. A constant daily effort will eventually pay off. If you build your business on a part time or hobby mentality, you will get part-time/hobby pay. Most of us have no choice but to start part-time. There is nothing wrong with it. Just don’t expect to be making millions within a year or 2. Even if you have all the time in the world overnight success just doesn’t happen.

Start by setting some goals. Where would you like to be 90 days from now, 6 months, a year and 5 years. Make sure that you write down your goals. Unwritten goals are just dreams. Don’t make unachievable goals. Stay within your means, that doesn’t mean to take it easy on yourself. Hold yourself accountable for your actions. This is your business and if you fail, it’s because you didn’t do what you needed to do. Once you have achieved some long term goals, you need to set some short term goals that will help you achieve the bigger ones.

Put together a daily and weekly plan. Give yourself some direction by writing things down that you need to accomplish on a weekly and daily basis. If you just wake up in the morning and ask yourself ” hmm, what should I do today?”, you probably won’t get much accomplished. When you get up and have a list of things that you need to get done for the day, your chances of getting things done will increase dramatically.

Consistent effort will pay off before you know it. Your leads will start to trickle in at first but if you keep at it you efforts will build and then they begin to flow in on a consistent basis. If you stop, your traffic and leads will also stop.

There are tons of things that you can do with your time spent in marketing. I suggest that you start marketing yourself since you want people to start finding you. Become the hunted instead of the hunter.

Did your upline tell you to make a list of friends and family, buy opportunity leads,cold call? Maybe they have you out there beating the streets, passing out flyers, business cards and samples. Are they telling you to go out to shopping malls, social gatherings etc. and spewing your product and opportunity all over your possible suspects? You see, the problem with all of those old and outdated tactics is that they just don’t work. The reason that they don’t work is because people hate being sold to.Sure you will find one or 2 here and there if you talk to enough people. But, are they the type of person that is going to go out and build a big business? Very doubtful. They joined the company for the products.

You see, people join people. You need to build relationships with people in order to get their trust. With technology of the internet, you can build relationships with people from all over the world. Network marketing is a people business. When you learn to brand yourself as a leader and the person to go to for answers, people will be be attracted to you and want to do business with you.

Over the years, I have learned that until someone raises their hand and asks for more information. You don’t even talk about you, your products or your opportunity. Make it about them. People really do like to talk about themselves. Listen to them, ask them questions and find out what their pain or problem is. When you find that out you will be able to help them. The more people that you help, the more people will talk about you and recommend you. The best advertising is word of mouth.

I used to regurgitate  my products and opportunity all over anyone that I could. I soon became a member of the NFL club.(no friends left). I really don’t think anyone wanted me to talk to them. When I started learning attraction marketing, everything got so much easier. People were finding me, some people even search me out now. If you have been using the traditional methods like I was, you need to experience the feeling of other people looking for you for “the answer”.

So, how do you learn attraction marketing? I learned the long, hard way. I’m stubborn and like to think that I can do everything on my own. Finally one day, I gave in to the emails I had been receiving for 2 1/2 years and spent the $39 to buy Magnetic Sponsoring. Immediately after reading it, felt relieved that I found the answer I was looking for. of course there was also the feeling of a 20 pound brick hitting me upside the head. This is a must for anyone that needs to learn the laws of attraction marketing. Or you can keep struggling with the old outdated tactics.

When you understand the principles of attraction marketing,you will be ready to start putting it into action. I will share what has worked for me in upcoming posts. You first step would be to get the foundation set. Get your mindset right. without the correct mindset, you are destined for failure.

Probably the most important thing that I could talk to you about is your mindset. Without the right mindset, you really have no business. Well, what is the right mindset? I believe the most important change that a person will have to make is moving from a job mentality over to a business owner mentality. You will never make it in the business world with a job mentality. The people who choose to change their mindset to a business owner mentality will crush you because you are still working for someone else and making their dreams come true.

Do you have what it takes to be a leader?  I’m not saying it’s bad to be a follower, but they tend to get the small checks, quit and blame someone else for their failure. A leader takes responsibility, never quits and perseveres until they get to the big checks. Some people are born leaders. The rest of us need to invest in our education to learn what it takes to become a leader in the industry.

You will definitely need to make some changes in the way you think. You might even need to change some of the people that you hang out with. Other peoples mindset, attitude, mood etc, have a tendency of somehow seeping into us and we don’t even realize it. Stop taking advice from losers. If you want to be successful and have what successful people have, then hang out with successful people. They will immediately ad value to you. And when you have enough value to offer others, they will see it and be magnetically attracted to you. It’s a real treat when other successful people are drawn to you because of the value to have to offer them.

Seriously, before you get any deeper into what you are doing, take some time to evaluate where your mindset is. Then start educating yourself on areas that you need help in. Start acting like the millionaire that is within you. A job mentality is a broke mentality. The only people that you will attract are other people with broke mentalities. When you have an abundance mentality, you will attract other people like you. It’s the law of attraction.

I could go on and on about mindset and will in later posts.  The bottom line is when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. This business is about helping others and it’s not just about you getting rich. Learn what it takes to become a leader and go out and help as many people as you can do the same. When you help enough people become successful, you will have more than you could ever dream of.
